Medical Weight Loss

Obesity is a chronic, progressive disease. In America, 2 out of 3 adults over the age of 20 are reported as overweight or obese. Excess weight is associated with many serious health conditions including diabetes, stroke, sleep apnea, heart disease, osteoarthritis and cancer. At FPUC, we are committed to providing effective, evidence-based therapies for patients affected by excess weight. Let us help you gain control over your health and weight – for good!

Our approach to treatment is based on the latest medical science and nutrition studies.  We provide ongoing medical supervision during your progress, watch vital signs and body composition, order and interpret laboratory tests as needed, and provide and/or adjust medications as required.

Why Medical Weight Loss?

Our doctors are confident that our medical weight loss programs are the most effective, individualized, programs available and they deliver the most health benefits to our patients. We can help you truly change your life.

Our doctors and professional office staff are here to help you. We meet with you to:

  • Discuss your health history in detail

  • Perform a comprehensive physical examination

  • Perform comprehensive laboratory testing

  • Create a customized plan that will help you lose weight and improve your overall health

  • Counsel on nutrion and exercise choices

There is no one-size-fits-all medical weight loss program. Every person is different: we all have a different medical history, health issues, upbringing, fitness routine, and body type. That’s why, for some people, just diet and exercise alone may not  be enough to help you lose and maintain a healthy weight. We will help you carefully consider what the most appropriate and effective program is for you and your lifestyle.

Weight Loss Programs for Men and Women

First Point Urgent Care offers stand-alone programs that include lifestyle changes to ensure that you get fast, safe and sustainable results. The initial phase of our weight-loss programs include a combination of medications, supplements and meal plans customized to fit your needs and goals. The following is a list of primary treatments we utilize to achieve fast amazing results:

Our Medical Weight Loss Programs Include:

  • Weight loss medications - Weight loss medications are tools that can help by decreasing appetite, decreasing food cravings, increasing satiety (fullness), or decreasing absorption.  Medications are often overlooked as helpful tools to help patients with obesity.  Also, it’s important to point out that many patients have never been on weight loss medications. Medications can help increase weight loss from 5-23% of a person’s total body weight, and in some patients more.  5% may not seem like much, but it can have a big impact on a person’s overall health. Just 5% of weight loss can decrease the chances of a person developing diabetes by greater than 50%! 1lb loss per week is the average!

    • Contrave- An FDA-approved combination medication of bupropion and naltrexone. Contrave can help with decreasing appetite and works in the reward center of the brain to help control food cravings.

    • Orlistat (Xenical)- Reduces the absorption of fat in the gut.

    • Phentermine- Is the most prescribed anti-obesity medication. It is a stimulant medication and suppresses appetite and may have other metabolic effects. It also can help with food cravings.

    • Qysmia- Is a combination medication of Topiramate and Phentermine. Qysmia can help decrease appetite and food cravings. It may also change the taste of some foods making it easier to comply with dietary changes.

    • Saxenda/Wegovy- Works on specific hormones in the body to help reduce appetite, increase feelings of fullness and reduce fat storage.

    • Plenity- Is a non-medication aid taken before meals to take up space in the stomach and promote fullness.

  • Lipotropic InjectionsThe term lipotropic comes from the three essential amino acids that are crucial for our health. These amino acids are very useful to help the human body metabolize fatty acids from foods. These fatty acids are going to be metabolized inside the liver. When injected, these lipotropic compounds can accelerate the fat metabolism rate. As the result, the fatty acids are going to be degraded and utilized or excreted by the body very quickly, as opposed to being stored as fat. Adding additional vitamins and minerals to the amino acid blend accelerates this process.

  • Weight Loss Coaching – Our staff is here to help you through your weight loss adventure every step of the way. Not only will you receive weekly weight loss progress, counseling and nutrition advice, but we make ourselves available via phone or email outside of office hours for your convenience. Our goal is your success!

Our doctors and staff are always available to answer questions about the program. If your goal is to regain control of your health, achieve sustainable weight loss and have the body you have been dreaming of, then the medical weight loss program at First Point Urgent Care is exactly what you need!
